Ultrasound scanner is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture and produce live images from the inside of the body. It is safe, painless, non-invasive and does not use ionizing radiation, thus there is no radiation exposure to the patient. It is used to help diagnose the cases of pain, swelling and infection in the body’s internal organs and to examine a baby in a pregnant woman.

Ultrasound scanning involves the use of a small transducer and ultrasound gel which is placed directly on the skin. High-frequency sound waves are transmitted from the transducer through the gel and into the body. The transducer collects the sounds that bounce back and a computer then uses those sound waves to create an image.
